Bouncy Coffee Jelly Drink (Printable Version)

Bouncy coffee jelly cubes in sweet, creamy milk. A refreshing Japanese fusion beverage for coffee enthusiasts.

# What You Need:

→ Coffee Jelly

01 - 2 cups strong brewed coffee, hot
02 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
03 - 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
04 - 2 tablespoons cold water

→ Sweet Cream

05 - 1 cup whole milk
06 - 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
07 - 1/2 cup heavy cream
08 - Ice cubes as needed

# How To Make:

01 - Sprinkle gelatin over cold water in a small bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes until absorbed and softened.
02 - Stir granulated sugar into hot brewed coffee until completely dissolved.
03 - Add bloomed gelatin to the sweetened coffee mixture. Whisk continuously until gelatin is fully dissolved and no granules remain.
04 - Pour mixture into a shallow dish or baking pan. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1.5 hours until firm and set.
05 - Remove set jelly from refrigerator. Cut into 1/2-inch cubes using a sharp knife.
06 - Combine whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream in a pitcher. Mix thoroughly until fully blended.
07 - Fill serving glasses with coffee jelly cubes and add ice cubes as desired. Pour sweet cream mixture over jelly. Stir gently before serving with a wide straw or spoon.

# Cooking Tips:

01 -
  • The contrast between the wobbly coffee jelly and silky cream creates a playful texture adventure that regular coffee drinks simply cant match.
  • Its impressively elegant looking but secretly one of the easiest dessert beverages youll ever make, perfect for when you want to wow friends without breaking a sweat.
02 -
  • Never pour your gelatin mixture into a cold dish straight from the refrigerator or it may set unevenly with an odd texture.
  • The coffee needs to be strongly brewed because the flavor will seem milder once its in jelly form and mixed with cream.
03 -
  • Pour a small amount of hot water over your knife before cutting the jelly for clean, precise cubes that wont stick to the blade.
  • For the most photogenic drink, place some coffee jelly cubes against the sides of the glass first, then fill the center and pour the cream slowly down the side.
