14 - Extra maple syrup or honey, optional

# How To Make:

01 - In a medium bowl, combine oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir thoroughly until fully integrated. Cover and refrigerate overnight for a minimum of 8 hours.
02 - Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add diced apple, maple syrup or brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cook while stirring occasionally until apples are tender and lightly caramelized, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Allow to cool completely before use.
03 - In the morning, stir the oat mixture to achieve desired consistency. Layer or swirl the cooled cinnamon apples into the oats.
04 - Top with toasted walnuts and drizzle with additional maple syrup or honey if desired. Serve chilled.

# Cooking Tips:

01 -
  • You literally prepare this the night before, so your morning self gets to skip the cooking and just enjoy.
  • The texture contrast between creamy oats and crunchy toasted walnuts makes every spoonful interesting.
  • It's naturally satisfying enough to power through until lunch without the mid-morning slump.
02 -
  • If you forget to toast the walnuts, they'll taste fine but lose that crucial crunch that keeps the whole thing interesting, so set a timer and don't skip this step.
  • The oats continue absorbing liquid as days pass, so if you make this for meal prep, the texture gets progressively creamier rather than more watery—it's still delicious, just different.
03 -
  • Toast your walnuts in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes right before assembling—they'll be significantly crunchier and more flavorful than if you do it earlier.
  • If your oats seem too thick in the morning, thin them out with a splash more milk rather than adding liquid the night before, since they'll continue absorbing as they sit.
